Katha kala, also known as black cutch or Acacia catechu, is a natural extract obtained from selected acacia wood. After boiling and concentrating, it forms a solid, dark block with a characteristic earthy taste and aroma.

It is widely used in paan preparation, where just a light touch helps add depth, color, and a smooth mouthfeel. Beyond culinary use, black katha is traditionally valued in crafts and household activities such as natural dyeing, leather treatment, and wood polishing because of its color and tannin content.

Since it is quite concentrated, only a small amount is required each time. Keep it in a dry, airtight container to preserve freshness and strength.
